The San Francisco 49ers appear to be open to trading Brandon Aiyuk, but they may only have until Tuesday to find a suitor. Aiyuk signed a 4-year, $120 million contract extension with the 49ers prior to the 2024 season.

To me, trading Aiyuk would have been the pinnacle of prisoner-of-the-moment decisions that likely stemmed from the non-football folks in the front office who are unaware of Aiyuk’s impact on the offense.

An Aiyuk trade this offseason never really made sense for San Francisco to begin with. They just signed him to be part of their long-term core, and he's injured. Any deal would have not gotten the return the 49ers would seek in a trade for a player of Aiyuk's caliber.
