On the heels of TikTok's looming shutdown on January 19 over its ownership in the U.S. (unless the Supreme Court intervenes), it looks like another American users are flocking to a Chinese app called Xiaohongshu as people become less optimistic that TikTok can overturn U.

As TikTok moves closer to being kicked out of the U.S., two Chinese apps — Xiaohongshu and Lemon8, which shares parent company ByteDance with TikTok — have blitzed to the top of the Apple App Store. As of Tuesday morning,

Xiaohongshu, which has become the top downloaded free app on Apple’s App Store in the U.S., means “Little Red Book” in English. It combines e-commerce, short video and posting functions.
