Matt Vierling hit a tiebreaking single with two outs in the eighth inning and the Detroit Tigers snapped a season-worst six-game losing streak by beating the Texas Rangers 2-1.

Relief pitcher Chris Martin made an early exit during his appearance against the Tigers, appearing to tweak something in his right leg on a play in which the Tigers scored the go-ahead run off Martin in the eighth inning. He exited with Rangers’ training staff shortly after and was replaced by reliever Caleb Boushley.

The Detroit Tigers will play their 100th game of the season on Sunday night in Arlington, Texas. The Tigers (59-40) and Rangers (50-49) wrap up their three-game series at 7:10 p.m. Eastern time at Globe Life Park. The Tigers have lost six games in a row, their longest skid since 2023.
