A Baltimore judge ruled Thursday that Adnan Syed, who was featured in the popular "Serial" podcast and whose murder conviction was recently reinstated, does not have to return to prison. He will remain free on five years of supervised release.

Syed was convicted of killing his former high school girlfriend, Hae Min Lee, in 1999. He will be subject to five years of supervised release under Maryland’s Juvenile Restoration Act, the judge ruled.
