The Rome Film Festival will fete Johnny Depp with its Lifetime Achievement award and screen the actor’s latest directorial effort, Modi – Three Days on the Wings of Madness during its 2024 edition.

The Rome Film Festival has unveiled the line-up for its 19th edition, which takes place from October 16-27. Rome will present lifetime achievement awards to Johnny Depp, who will present Modi, his biopic of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, at the festival.

The announcement has been met with criticism by many on social media in light of the domestic abuse allegations brought against Depp by ex-wife Amber Heard. In 2022, Depp sued Heard for defamation and won the case; however, the court of public opinion had mixed feelings about the verdict.
