What is the status of Philadelphia 76ers stars Tyrese Maxey and Paul George as they take on the New York Knicks on Wednesday?

South Philly was surprised by the sudden absence of Paul George on Tuesday night. The Philadelphia 76ers ruled out the nine-time NBA All-Star roughly 30 minutes before tipping off against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Tyrese Maxey and Paul George were late additions to the injury report for the 76ers' matchup with the Thunder.

It's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder against the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Center.

This season, George has appeared in 25 games for the 76ers, at a little over 32 minutes per game. He’s been averaging 16.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.8 steals with splits of 41.7 percent shooting from the field, 34.1 percent shooting from the three-point line and 81.2 percent shooting from the free-throw line.

While the Philadelphia 76ers planned to be shorthanded against the Oklahoma City Thunder as early as Monday night, the team didn’t anticipate so many absences when they initially submitted their injury report.
