Food banks across the country are scrambling to learn how federal budget cuts affect their food donations. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently paused $500 million in food deliveries across the country.

The USDA canceled $500 million in food deliveries nationwide, leaving Oregon and southwest Washington food banks bracing for the impact.

Oregon food banks receive truckloads of foods like frozen chicken and pork, milk, canned and fresh vegetables and fruit from the federal government every week. But starting in April, Oregon will receive fewer of those shipments, after the Trump administration has canceled a number of deliveries.
