A high-impact winter storm is expected to affect the region from Saturday night through Monday morning, bringing all winter weather types, including heavy snow, significant freezing rain, and sleet, with widespread 6+ inch snowfall totals expected.

Weather Advisories and Winter Storm Warnings continue in the mountains through this evening before the snow gradually comes to an end.

The first wave began Friday morning with early morning commuters being met with heavy snow as they drove to work or to home. Also, the NWS extended their winter weather advisory, that they put in place Thursday afternoon, until Saturday at 10 a.m.

Most locations in the Denver metro area will be in the low 40s with 30s in the mountains. Moderate snow for the mountains begins Saturday afternoon, increasing this evening/overnight. Winter weather advisories have been posted for most of the northern and central mountains through Sunday afternoon.

Snow is expected to fall across Colorado this weekend, prompting potentially record-breaking traffic in the mountains and more potential travel delays around the Denver metro.
