Mackinac Bridge was just closed for 30 hours. That’s a new record. Officials are optimistic that the bridge is now cleared of ice and won’t need to close again.

In a press release, maintenance staff at the Mackinac Bridge said the amount of ice that formed was unprecedented.

High-profile vehicles include pickups with campers, cars with small boats, bicycles or luggage attached to the roof, Ryder or U-Haul trucks, any vehicle pulling a boat, semi-tractor with enclosed trailers and all trailers with side walls over 2 feet in height.
