A Tsunami could hit Japan, the US, and Russia. Following the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia, on Wednesday (July 30), Tsunami waves have been spotted in Northern Hokkaido in Japan.

One of the most powerful earthquakes in decades has struck Russia's far east, causing 5m tsunami waves and prompting evacuations from Japan to Hawaii.

"It's not one that's going to cause mass devastation. But it will cause coastal flooding and it will cause damage and it does put lives at risk if people don't move to high ground," an oceanography professor says.
