Jacksonville Jaguars international player Louis Rees-Zammit announced Thursday evening he'd be leaving the team to return to rugby.

Louis Rees-Zammit is pulling the plug on his bid to make it in the NFL a little earlier than expected. Rees-Zammit said in June that he'd give it another year or two before returning to rugby, but the Jaguars wide receiver announced on Instagram that he's going back to his first sport.

Louis Rees-Zammit is leaving the NFL to return to playing rugby union. The decision comes 18 months after the 24-year-old initially quit rugby to pursue a career playing American football. Rees-Zammit had spells with the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars,
