Thousands of people nationwide have shown up at protests and rallies opposing ICE raids as unrest grows in response to the Trump administration's immigration crackdown.

An immigrant in Los Angeles has been charged with one count of assault of a federal employee for allegedly spitting on an ICE officer.

President Donald Trump’s use of troops to help carry out intensified immigration raids faces its biggest challenge yet on Thursday.

The outburst of public dissent occurred over the weekend after ICE began raids across Los Angeles. ICE said on Saturday that its “operations in LA this week” had resulted in 118 arrests of immigrants in Southern California.

Dozens of anti-ICE demonstrators have gathered outside a San Francisco immigration court. The demonstration was organized over social media after local organizers received reports that at least 10 people had been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents as they attended court hearings.

ICE raids are still taking place as protests over those raids continue in Los Angeles. CBS News immigration and politics reporter Camilo Montoya-Galvez has more.
