Stocks nosedived for the second straight day on Friday as fears grow that an escalating global trade war will cut into corporate profits and stall economic growth.

Interestingly, consumer defensive stocks managed to gain some ground as traders searched for safe-haven assets. Utilities and healthcare stocks have also outperformed the broader market. The market’s move is so strong that some traders may be forced to liquidate their positions.

The major indexes weakened and were mixed Tuesday afternoon. Tesla stock picked up momentum Tuesday after two days of losses.
