The Colorado Springs Fire Department battled an apartment fire early Tuesday morning at the Santa Fe Apartments located at 1224 Delaware Dr.

The multifamily building is barely a block from the local firehouse. In a statement Monday, the Town of Hempstead said structural issues were "observed" by inspectors following the fire call Sunday — and that, as a result, "the building was deemed unsafe, subject to further inspection by a structural engineer."
