A 4.8-magnitude earthquake was reported in Alaska on Tuesday (July 22), according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered along the island of Sand Point at a depth of 38.4 kilometers (about 24 miles). The USGS said it received zero reports of people having felt the earthquake at the time of publication.

Melbourne: A magnitude-6.6 earthquake struck near the South Pacific island nation of Samoa on Friday, the US Geological Survey said, as reported by AP. There were no immediate reports of injury or damage.

The quake struck late morning local time 440 kilometers (273 miles) southwest of the capital Apia at a depth of 314 kilometers (195 miles), the US Geological Survey said.
